KRYSTOLTM CONCRETE WATERPROOFING SYSTEM

Point Robert's Border Crossing
Washington, USA

BACKGROUND
The Port of Entry Facility at the Point Roberts Border Crossing was designed with good soil drainage, visquene (poly-ethylene plastic), and an 8-inch concrete slab on both the 1st and 2nd floor. However, hydrostatic pressure under the slabs forced excessive amounts of moisture to push through the concrete and affect the adhesion of the floor tiles on the entire first floor (below-grade) and areas of the second floor (on-grade). The floor tiles became blistered and adhesive seeped through the tile seams.

SOLUTION
The floor tiles had to be removed to allow a slurry application of KRYSTOL™ T1 followed by KRYSTOL™ T2. The floors are now dusty dry and replacement flooring has been installed.
